Life can seem a bit daunting when you're a single mother raising your son on your own. It isn't the challenge that you may perceive it to be though. Believe it or not, the karmic bond you have to your son is one of the most unique soul connections around.
Personally, there is nothing more beautiful than seeing the bond between a single mother and her only child. Especially when that child is her son. I am probably biased since I am a single mother too, but I see the bond in almost all single mother/only son relationships, and that bond is truly remarkable.
I'm not talking about the usual bond that most parents have with their children. The love between a parent and their child is always evident regardless of whether they are an extremely good parent or not. I'm talking about a unique karmic bond that is unlike anything else. I've never seen it in other parent/child relationships, only in single mother/son relationships.
So what's it all about?
When you come across this relationship between two souls they will act and deal with each other in quite a specific way. You could almost say that the parent/child relationship and love are magnified and that the roles are quite often fluid between the two.
The single mother in this instance will almost seem to look up to their son. This will show in their concern, worry and targeted admiration for their son. Their son's well-being and complete and utter happiness will be put miles before their own. I can hear you saying 'but all parents want that for their child'- you're right but not like a single mum does for her son. Every single action takes their son's happiness into account and it's almost like they are constantly worried that they aren't doing or being enough to provide this happiness. There'll be a reluctance, almost a fear of having more children as well in case it upsets their perfect, two-seater apple cart.
The son on the other hand will be extremely protective of his mother, overly affectionate, will defend her and take her side on any issue. Like my son for example, he'll tell my mum (after a delicious time-consuming meal that she's made) that I'm a better cook than her even though he knows, she knows, I know and we all know that it is an absolute lie! When amongst other people the son will defend his mother to no end.
He will take a stand against other men too. Sons of single mums have an extremely well-developed sense of what's right for their mothers. If a new man enters her life who appears to be kind on the outside when he's actually not on the inside, the son will play up and will never, ever accept that person as part of their exclusive family. It has nothing to do with the son being a spoilt brat either. This child knows what is best for his mum and never wants to see her even the slightest bit unhappy, as it hurts him too. So, new partners beware!
As I mentioned before the parent/child roles will transfer between the mother and son, and there's a very good reason why this happens...their spiritual connection.
These two souls have always spent many, many lives together. Their past life connection runs deep and keeps going on and on. They could almost be twin souls. They reincarnate together regularly and are learning to cope with the lessons that others teach them together. There will also always be one past life or more where the son was the father to the mother. Watch for your young child finding it hard to differentiate between the two titles in this life: my 6-year-old son still tells me that he's my Dad!
More incredible yet are the ties between their astrological chart, numerology numbers and Chinese horoscope. They will pretty much always be harmonious, compatible or freakishly alike. For example, my son and I are both earth sun signs, both Pisces moons, both Sagittarius rising, both the Chinese Rat...the list goes on and on and the coincidence would stump me if I didn't believe in it all.
These two souls need each other in a way unlike any other. The son needs to make sure his mother is safe and protected and the mother needs her son to uplift her spirits and remind her of what true love is. No one can come between this unique and beautiful karmic bond. Who would want to?! So, if you're struggling with the thought of raising a boy into a man as a single parent take note: you're doing a wonderful job of being his mother, as it is a natural part of your unique soul bond, and your son will always be there for you in this life and most probably the next.
Light and love to all the single mothers out there xoxo
