Sorry to the men who’ve started reading this, but this blog post will probably be of little interest to you. For all the women reading, listen up: do you realise the power that the Moon has over your monthly cycle? Continue reading to find out more… The Moon is considered to be a feminine ‘planet’ in astrology. Its feminine qualities include that of emotions, intuition and illusion. It is also the planet which governs the element of water. The Moon is by far the most interesting of all the astrological planets, and is the only planet which matches that of the Sun’s influence on our lives. It is this feminine power which makes the Moon especially important to all women. Women not only express their Moon sign more directly than their Sun sign, but they also have a physical connection to the Moon. A woman’s monthly cycle (a.k.a period) naturally follows the phases of the Moon. If managed properly the preciseness of this can be calculated down to the hour. With modern medicine and social trends this fact seems to have been lost over the years. Contraceptives containing synthetic hormones, such as hormone releasing implants and the pill, have ultimately caused an imbalance in our cycles, as have other medicines including antibiotics and antidepressants. If you were to stop using any of these contraceptives it would take a few months for your cycle to return to normal. Once your body becomes accustomed to working through its cycles naturally, you’ll notice some magic happen, as your cycles will start to align with the phases of the Moon. (Unless, of course, you have an underlying medical condition or a poor diet.) The phases of the Moon speak perfectly about the phases in a woman’s cycle: The New Moon marks the beginning of a woman’s fertile period for the month. Just as the New Moon represents new beginnings and hopes for the future, it can mean new life and conception of a child. The Full Moon marks the end of the fertile period for the month. The Full Moon represents fullness and completion. When looking at this from a fertility perspective, the hopes of conception and pregnancy have been fulfilled and the body will start to show signs of pregnancy. On another note, the Moon also gives women a ‘heads up’ with regards to our emotions. Blood Moons, Blue Moons, Wet Moons, Black Moons and times when the Moon is interacting strangely with other planets, can all effect our moods during the year. So, I say please, to all the men who have endured this post and read right up to this point (pat yourself on the back), keep in mind that the women in your life aren’t lunatics for no reason, it’s the influence of the luminous Moon above which is making them act up from time to time. Love and light everybody xoxo *You can read more about the Moon and its influence in my book Working with the Moon.
